Applications Now Open: 2025 Carmen International Fellowship

2025 Carmen International Fellowship

Sponsored by Mosaic International

Mosaic is a whole-person healthcare organization dedicated to serving people with diverse needs since 1913. The Mosaic network reaches across 13 states providing support to more than 4,500 people in the USA. Our international ministry came to life in 1994 when faith leaders in Latvia approached us about supporting a startup organization working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; today our partners are found exclusively in Tanzania.

Building a Caring Community, a Mosaic-supported program in Moshi, Tanzania, works with nearly 300 children and young adults with intellectual disabilities, a very under-served population in Sub-Saharan Africa. Children and young adults in the program receive support in one of the 13-day centers in Moshi and the Hai District or through home visits by outreach workers from BCC.

The program also includes an economic development/poverty reduction component through social businesses and a microcredit loan program, as well as a global health component through PROMOT Health, a whole-person healthcare program for participants. An inclusive primary education program and young adult vocational training are also key components of the BCC program.

Fellowship duties will include:

  • Embracing an accompaniment model of in-country ownership, management, and self-governance.
  • Consultation and collaboration with program staff in Tanzania to strengthen programs, build capacity, and increase sustainability.
  • Assisting program staff in Tanzania with program monitoring/evaluation, data collection, and database creation/management.
  • Coordinating international volunteers, volunteer groups, and donor visits.
  • Participating in meetings, planning sessions, and program events with local staff.
  • Coordinating and communicating between the local office in Tanzania and Mosaic National Supports in Omaha, Nebraska.
  • Contributing writing, photography, and videography for use in Mosaic International’s outreach efforts.
  • Other duties developed around the candidate’s interests, abilities, and experience that will contribute to the BCC program.
