UConn’s MFA Studio Art program is a fully funded three-year graduate program that supports a broad range of art making including painting/drawing, photography/video, printmaking, and sculpture/ceramics with an international faculty and superior and generous facilities in a rural environment centrally located in Southern New England for easy day trips to New York, Boston, Providence, Hartford, and New Haven. The program culminates with an exhibition in a Northeast gallery. and a thesis exhibition in UConn’s William Benton Museum of Art.

Eligibility
You must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.
While we do accept outside credential evaluations from NACES and AICE members, if the degree is a 3-year bachelor’s degree from India, Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, Scotland, or certain other countries, we will not consider the degree to be equivalent to a 4-year US bachelor’s degree.
How to Apply
Admission to the MFA program is highly competitive. Applications are reviewed in February for admission to begin study during the fall. There are no mid-year, spring-term, or summer admissions. Five highly qualified applicants are admitted each year and offered renewable merit-based graduate teaching or research assistantships.
The Graduate application to the Art & Art History Department requires the completion of the University of Connecticut Graduate School application and the submission of your portfolio through the UConn Graduate SlideRoom.

The deadline date for submission of the UConn Graduate School application and SlideRoom application is January 15, 2025.
