SUPPORT SOLUTIONS TO GLOBAL CHALLENGES

Join the inaugural cohort of Science for Development Fellows in Washington, DC, for this two-year, immersive professional development opportunity! Your science and technology (S&T) expertise is needed at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to help solve critical international development challenges across a broad range of issues, including global health, food security, humanitarian assistance, economic growth, water and sanitation, climate change, environment, energy, gender equality, and education.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Hold a qualifying degree: doctoral-level scientists and engineers with a master’s degree are encouraged to apply from across STEMM disciplines, including life sciences, physical and earth sciences, social sciences, mathematics, engineering, public health, and medicine.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Able to obtain a security clearance

LOCATION: Placements at the USAID headquarters in Washington, DC 

DURATION: Two-year (24 months) commitment from October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2026

COMPETITIVE SALARY AND BENEFITS

Fellows will be supported with an annual salary ranging from $99,200  up to $141,557, along with a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance  
  • Metro transit benefits for the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) metropolitan area 
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions 
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage 
  • Minimum of 7 days of paid sick leave and 14 days of paid personal leave per year 
  • Paid time off for all federal holidays  
  • Paid family/medical leave (birth, adoption or foster of a new child, or family medical emergency) 
  • Relocation support of $4,500 if moving from more than 50 miles away
