On September 12, 2024, the International Fellows Network (IFN) hosted its Stammtisch (Happy Hour) in Berlin, Germany, welcoming a vibrant group of current and former fellows from various prestigious fellowship programs. Hosted by Handaa Enkh-Amgalan, MPA, the event brought together an inspiring mix of individuals at a central Berlin Biergarten, creating a casual yet stimulating networking and idea exchange environment.
The evening saw the attendance of 14 fellows, including alumni from the German Chancellor Fellowship program, Cultural Vistas, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The attendees hailed from various fields, ranging from journalism and urban development to climate change research and human rights integration into business models. Conversations flowed freely, with fellows eager to share their research interests, career journeys, and fellowship experiences, creating an enriching atmosphere for both reconnecting with old colleagues and making new professional connections.
Among the attendees were fellows working on pressing global challenges, including street-level astronomy, conflict journalism, and cybersecurity. Several fellows from the German Chancellor Fellowship cohorts, both current and former, were able to join, which provided an opportunity for these accomplished individuals to reconnect. With so many individuals representing diverse backgrounds and disciplines, it shows how dynamic the IFN community is.
As the sun set and the conversations deepened, Handaa provided a brief introduction to the International Fellows Network, highlighting ProFellow’s mission and expanding global reach. She reflected on the value of these gatherings, emphasizing how they allow fellows to learn from one another’s experiences and foster connections that can lead to future collaborations across borders and disciplines.
Overall, the evening was a success, with attendees expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to come together and share their insights. The event showcased the diversity of the IFN network and its ability to bring together changemakers from across the globe.
