International Fellows Network Dinner in NYC, January 2020

Jan 29, 2020 • Views 82

On January 28, the International Fellows Network hosted a dinner for current and former fellows at the Italian Restaurant OTTO Enoteca e Pizzeria in Manhattan. The dinner brought together a cross-disciplinary group of leaders for an evening of discussion and exchange.

It was a great opportunity to connect with fellows representing a variety of programs, experiences, and career levels. Several had undertaken international fellowships, while others were alumni of programs based in the United States. Andy Ng hosted the event and shared about his experience with multiple programs, including the Startingbloc Fellowship, Dalai Lama Fellowship, and Gates Millennium Scholarship program. Alex Lilly and Constancia Vilomar gave us insights into the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Fellowship, which they completed in Malaysia and Brazil, respectively. Brandon Juvani told us about his time as a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholar, a program that funds U.S. students to intern or study abroad, and Michelle Charles shared her experiences as an Army veteran running a small business. We learned about the National Urban Fellowship from Christina Lopez, who just completed her program, and Handaa Enkh-Amgalan told us about the NYC Urban Fellowship. We also enjoyed discussing our future goals, living abroad, and travel destinations, and exchanged recommendations for places to eat and see in New York City.

The International Fellows Network is a professional networking organization of more than 1,800 current and former fellows from all over the world. The IFN also holds events in San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Berlin, Germany and seeking to expand these to new locations in 2020. Through the IFN, current and former fellows can connect for socializing, advice and insights on fellowships, jobs, events, graduate programs, and collaborative opportunities. If you are a current or former fellow and would like to join, please sign up for our fellowships database, and we’ll be in touch by email!
