- Hertog War Studies Program: The Hertog War Studies Program is an intensive two-week program run by the Institute for the Study of War in Washington DC. The program educates advanced undergraduate students about the theory, practice, organization, and control of war and military forces. Students will learn from and interact with distinguished senior leaders in the national security and military communities. This course bridges the civil-military divide and teaches students at the start of their careers how to assess military decision-making. - Wellcome Trust Early-Career Awards: The early-career awards scheme provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity. Innovative projects will deliver shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health, and well-being. By the end of the award, fellows will be ready to lead their independent research program. A Wellcome Early-Career Award provides a salary for the grant holder and up to £400,000 for research expenses. - Gulf Research Program Science Policy Fellowships: The Gulf Research Program is offering Science Policy Fellowships to individuals who have demonstrated superior scholarship and an interest in public policy. The Fellows will receive valuable experience at the science-policy interface by working for one year at a state legislature, environmental or natural resource agency, or regional offices of relevant federal agencies. The stipend amount will depend on the degree completed or currently enrolled in, ranging from $58,000 to $63,000. In addition to the stipend, each fellow will receive an annual health allowance of $5,500, which will be added to the stipend package. - Etruscan Foundation Research Fellowship: The Etruscan Foundation Research Fellowship is designed to support research in all areas of research on Etruscan and indigenous cultures of non-Greek Italy dating from the Neolithic through the 1st Century BCE. The fellowship is open to Canadian and U.S. citizens and those affiliated with U.S. institutions who are PhD candidates (ABD), PhD independent researchers, and PhD untenured faculty. - Etruscan Foundation Fieldwork Fellowship: The Etruscan Foundation Fieldwork Fellowship is designed to support participation in field schools or archaeological fieldwork at Etruscan and indigenous sites of non-Greek Italy from the Neolithic through the 1st Century BCE. - Gina M. Finzi Memorial Student Summer Fellowship Program: The Lupus Foundation of America has several grant programs for investigators at every stage of their career in lupus research. The goal of the Gina M. Finzi Memorial Student Summer Fellowship program is to foster an interest among students in the areas of basic, clinical, translational, epidemiological, or behavioral research relevant to lupus. Students must work under the sponsorship and supervision of an established, tenure-track principal investigator who directs a laboratory dedicated at least in part to the investigation of lupus at an academic, medical, or research institution. - Gary S. Gilkeson Career Development Award: The Lupus Foundation of America’s Gary S. Gilkeson Career Development Award facilitates the professional development of current fellows (any year), clinicians up to two years post-fellowship, and/or within four years of Postdoctoral research in nephrology, rheumatology, or dermatology, in the U.S. or Canada. Their work should focus on the investigation of basic, clinical, translational, behavioral, or epidemiological lupus research. Applicants must hold an M.D. or Ph.D. (or equivalent) from an accredited institution and be citizens or legal residents of the U.S. or Canada. - Lupus Canada Catalyst Grant: Lupus Foundation of America has partnered with Lupus Canada for the Catalyst Grant. The Lupus Canada Catalyst Grant is intended to help kick-start a new project or research idea focused on discoid or systematic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This grant provides support to Canadian investigators to initiate new research ideas and projects and is intended to complement rather than compete with traditional sources of funding such as the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR). All Applicants must be Canadian citizens and hold an academic appointment at a Canadian university, teaching hospital, or similar. - Scholarship Course on access to justice in Southeast Asia and Beyond: The course at the University of Jember, East Java, Indonesia, explores barriers to accessing justice in Southeast Asia, focusing on Indonesia. It examines the challenges individuals face in achieving fair treatment, the role of human rights law, and the interaction between national and international legal frameworks. Participants will analyze human rights violations, cultural resistance, and the role of advocacy groups. Designed for students, NGO workers, and early-career community leaders, the course includes classroom sessions, field visits, and cultural experiences, culminating in a Human Rights Conference. - APS/Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities Fellowship for Research in Edinburgh: In collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh, the APS offers a visiting fellowship of between 2-4 months for research in Edinburgh, Scotland in any aspect of the humanities and social sciences. This award includes travel expenses between the United States and the United Kingdom, a private office, library, and research facilities at the IASH, and a monthly subsistence paid by the APS. Travel expenses and the monthly subsistence amount will not exceed a maximum of $6,000. - Wild Gift Fellowship: The Wild Gift hosts wilderness-based fellowships designed to provide entrepreneurs with leadership skills, community, and connection to the outdoors. Fellows receive a $2500 stipend, a 3-week backpacking trip (May), and 6 months of virtual programming (April-November). Eligible applicants have launched (or are ready to launch) a social or environmental venture and are between the ages of 21-35. - Graduate Pre-Prospectus Summer Fellowships: Pre-Prospectus Summer Fellowships will allow doctoral students to determine how the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami may serve their research needs as they prepare the dissertation prospectus. These are exploratory fellowships to determine if research resources in the CHC will support a dissertation. - Daiches-Manning Memorial Fellowship in 18th-Century Scottish Studies: The fellowship provides a bursary of US$3000/£1800* towards travel and accommodation in support of research on any aspect of eighteenth-century Scottish studies. It is open to post-doctoral scholars of all nationalities, in all disciplines, and at all career levels. The Fellowship is for 2-6 months and may be taken at any time of the year. Fellows are expected to be in residence in Edinburgh for the duration of the Fellowship and to participate fully in IASH activities. - Strategic Data Project Fellowship: The Strategic Data Project Fellowship (SDP) is a paid two-year program at Harvard University that places and develops talented data strategists in partner agencies where they can have an immediate impact on policy decisions that affect student outcomes. - Goizueta Foundation Graduate Fellowship Program: Goizueta Foundation Graduate Fellowship Program aims to expand the scholarship of Cuban, American, Latin, hemispheric, and international studies by providing funding to doctoral students interested in using the resources available at the University of Miami Cuban Heritage Collection (CHC) for dissertation research. Two fellowship types are offered, Graduate Pre-Prospectus Summer Fellowships, which provide one-month residence and $3,000, and Graduate Research Fellowships, which provide $4,500/month for 1-3 months in residence. - IC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program: The IC Postdoc Program offers scientists and engineers from a wide variety of disciplines unique opportunities to conduct research relevant to the Intelligence Community. The research is conducted by the postdocs while working in partnership with a research advisor and collaborating with an advisor from the intelligence community. Postdoc appointments are for 24 months but can allow for a third year if outlined in the original proposal. - The Bella and Murray Ressler Digital Humanities Fellowship: The Bella and Murray Ressler Digital Humanities Fellowship Program is designed for students currently enrolled in a master’s degree program or completing their undergraduate education. Students outside the field of history are encouraged to apply. Fellows will develop and conduct independent research projects under the supervision of a Museum mentor, interact with staff and visiting scholars in residence, and audit special summer seminars and research workshops that explore challenging questions still to be addressed by Holocaust scholarship. - Kleinhans Fellowship for Community Forestry Research: The Kleinhans Fellowship provides a two-year stipend of US$20,000 per year to support research that addresses one of the following topics: markets for lesser-known species and non-timber forest products, biodiversity management practices, social organization and governance, or multi-community enterprises. Fellows participate in workshops with community members and regional Rainforest Alliance staff and submit a final report. - IASH-SSPS Research Fellowships: The IASH-SSPS Research Fellowships are intended to encourage outstanding interdisciplinary research, international scholarly collaboration, and networking activities by visiting Research Fellows together with academics in the School of Social and Political Science (SSPS). Fellows will be expected to work in collaboration with one or more members of SSPS academic staff and to take an active part in IASH interdisciplinary events. - IASH-Alwaleed Research Fellowship: The IASH-Alwaleed Research Fellowship is intended to encourage outstanding interdisciplinary research, international scholarly collaboration, and networking activities of Visiting Research Fellows together with academics in the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World. Fellows are expected to be residents in Edinburgh throughout the tenure of their Fellowship and to play a full part in the activities of IASH and the Alwaleed Centre. - NABJ Ethel Payne Fellowship: Named for the first female, African American commentator employed by a U.S. network, the NABJ Ethel Payne Fellowship is a $5,000 award for a journalist to gain foreign correspondence experience in Africa and the necessary assistance to complete a project or singular report on Africa. Proposed projects are encouraged to tell the untold and dynamic stories of Africa and African people. - AMS Scholarship for Underserved Communities: The AMS Scholarship for Underserved Communities will award funding to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is committed to advancing core values of diversity, inclusion, and equity across all aspects of the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status and plan to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. - CFR Technologist-in-Residence Fellowship: The Technologist-in-Residence Fellowship seeks to enhance the knowledge, broaden the expertise, and enrich the perspectives of early- and mid-career technologists by providing them with a substantive opportunity to research and discuss issues at the intersection of technology and foreign policy or national security. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Strong preference is given to applicants currently working at a private-sector technology company. - Richard A. Long / HBCU Fellowship: The Rose Library offers short-term research fellowships annually to graduate students and faculty from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Each fellowship will have a value of between $500-$1000, which is meant to help defray expenses in traveling to and residing in Atlanta for the duration of the fellowship. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program or teach at an HBCU that is more than 50 miles away from Emory University’s main campus. - CFR Edward R. Murrow Press Fellowship: Launched in 1949 with support from the Carnegie Corporation, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) Edward R. Murrow Press Fellowship seeks to promote the quality of responsible and discerning journalism that exemplifies the work of Murrow. One CFR resident fellowship is awarded each year to a distinguished foreign correspondent or editor. The fellow spends 9 months full-time in residence at CFR’s headquarters in New York. - Ignited Summer Fellowship Program: Ignited (formerly IISME) offers research and industry-based professional development opportunities for K-16 teachers in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Solano Counties. The program places eligible K-16 teachers of all subjects into high-performance work sites for the summer. Teachers work full-time for 8 weeks, complete a project for their sponsors, and are paid $9,000. Teachers also spend approximately 10% of their paid time focusing on how they will transfer their Fellowship experience back to their students. - Ted Scripps Fellows in Environmental Journalism: This flexible, non-degree program allows fellows to tailor these resources to meet their needs and interests. Fellows deepen their knowledge of the environment through courses, weekly seminars, and field trips. Fellows will receive $80,000 for the 9-month academic year, covering tuition, recreation, and computer fees. The program is open to all full-time U.S. print or broadcast journalists interested in deepening and broadening their knowledge of environmental issues. - Postdoctoral Research Scholars Program in Bioethics: This 1-2 year program prepares scholars with the knowledge and skills necessary to become leaders in the field of bioethics. Research scholars will be fully integrated into the community of faculty and students at the Center for Bioethics, with access to the resources of Harvard Medical School and Harvard University. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with the scholars at the Hastings Center. - Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows Program: Animated by the mission of the University of Notre Dame, the Center for STEM Education conducts and applies research to improve STEM teaching and learning for all students, especially students from underrepresented populations and students in Catholic schools. - Sondheim Nonprofit Leadership Program: The Sondheim Nonprofit Leadership Program introduces Maryland’s undergraduate and graduate students to the nonprofit sector. They are placed at a nonprofit organization full-time under the mentorship of a senior-level professional as they learn about the functions of nonprofits and examine community needs and social challenges. - Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Fellows Program: The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Fellows Program exposes Maryland’s college students to careers in the state sector within Maryland’s integrative transportation system. Fellows of all majors are placed in full-time assignments in one of MDOT’s units and mentored by senior-level administrators. With the knowledge gained at their placements, and through seminars, trips, and networking, fellows research and create a proposal to solve a transportation challenge. - Arthur F. Burns Fellowship: The Arthur F. Burns Fellowship provides talented young journalists the opportunity to live and work in each other’s country. This highly personalized and practical program improves the quality of news coverage in each country and strengthens the transatlantic relationship. The fellowship is open to U.S., Canadian and German journalists between the age of 21-40 who have two years of professional journalism experience and have a strong interest in North American-European affairs. - Phillips Fund for Native American Research: The Phillips Fund of the American Philosophical Society provides grants for research in Native American linguistics, ethnohistory, and the history of studies of Native Americans in the continental United States and Canada. The grants are intended for such costs as travel, tapes, films, and consultants’ fees. The committee prefers to support the work of younger scholars who have received a doctorate. - Woodberry Poetry Room Creative Fellowship: Each year, the Creative Fellowship program at the Woodberry Poetry Room invites poets, writers, translators, artists, filmmakers, composers, and scholars of contemporary poetry to propose creative projects that would benefit from the resources available in the Woodberry Poetry Room. The Creative Fellow receives a stipend of $5,000, access to a range of Harvard Library special collections (including the Poetry Room), and in-depth research support from the WPR curatorial staff. - Mudhouse Residency Program: The Mudhouse Residency is designed to provide a cultural immersion: living and working in the mountain village of Agios Ioannis, on the Greek island of Crete. The residency is inclusive of several artistic disciplines, with the facilities to accommodate studio artists, painters, printmakers, photographers, filmmakers, writers, poets, dancers, musicians, choreographers, and composers. The Duration of residency is two weeks and three residency sessions in a year. - Louisville Institute Doctoral Fellowship: The Louisville Institute Doctoral Fellowship (DOC) program invites current religion Ph.D. and Th.D. students in their first or second year of doctoral study to consider theological education as a vocation. Many of the applicants are scholars in areas related to Christian faith and life, the practice of ministry, religious trends and movements, Christian and other faith-based institutions, and religion and social issues. As Doctoral Fellows, students receive a $3,000 grant each year for two years. All expenses for participating in the VTE gatherings, held in Louisville, KY, are covered by the Louisville Institute. / Apply by March 1, 2025
- Women’s International Study Center (WISC) Fellowships: The Women’s International Study Center (WISC) in Santa Fe, New Mexico inspires and enables women to achieve their goals through residence to create new projects and engage with the community through a public presentation. Residencies are typically four weeks long, although shorter and longer options are possible. Writers, artists, scholars, scientists, professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply. WISC seeks proposals aligned with our focus areas – the arts, sciences, cultural preservation, business and philanthropy. All projects must be relevant to the interests and experiences of women.
