  • USA to Australia Fellowship Program: The Association awards Fellowships each year at the graduate (Masters, PhD, or Postdoctoral) level of up to $40,000 for US scholars undertaking advanced research or study in Australia. Fellowships are available for Americans who will benefit from doing research or study in biophotonics, engineering, environmental and marine sciences, mathematics, medicine, sciences, sustainability, and technology. Applicants must make their arrangements for university affiliation and have a confirmed placement by the time the Fellowship is awarded. Applicants must be US citizens or US permanent residents doing research or study at the graduate level. Applicants may already be in Australia. / Apply by September 30, 2024

 

  • Wexner Field Fellowship: The Wexner Field Fellowship provides opportunities for growth to promising Jewish professionals who plan to continue to pursue careers as leaders in the North American Jewish community. Jewish professional leaders are provided coaching, Jewish learning, and professional development funds. This cohort-based program will deepen these professionals’ leadership skills alongside a rich network of colleagues for this three-year program and the rest of their careers. To apply you will be based in North America and employed full-time by one Jewish communal organization.   • ORNL Distinguished Staff Fellowship Program: The ORNL Distinguished Staff Fellowships are 3-year appointments awarded to outstanding early-career scientists and engineers with demonstrated success within their academic, professional, and technical areas, who have high potential to be future science leaders. These highly competitive fellowships are available across a variety of research disciplines, including biology and the environment, clean energy, fusion and fission, isotope science, materials science, national security, neutron science, and supercomputing. Applicants must have received their PhD in a STEM field within the last 5 years. There are three application cycles per year. / Apply by September 30, 2024

 

  • American Academy in Berlin Prize: The Academy welcomes applications from emerging and established scholars, writers, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin. Approximately 24 Berlin Prizes are conferred annually. Past recipients have included historians, economists, poets and novelists, journalists, legal scholars, anthropologists, musicologists, and public policy experts, among others. Fellowships are typically awarded for an academic semester or, on occasion, for an entire academic year. Benefits include round-trip airfare, partial board, a $5,000 monthly stipend, and accommodations at or nearby the Academy’s lakeside Hans Arnhold Center in the Wannsee district of Berlin.   • NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors (Master’s): Master’s fellowships of up to $15,000 for addiction counseling students studying for their master’s degree. Eligible applicants must commit to obtaining an addictions counseling credential, demonstrate knowledge of and experience in addictions/substance abuse services to one or more of the following: underserved minority communities, child/adolescent and geriatric groups, minority communities in inner cities and rural areas, minority persons (including LGBT), or those who are veterans or are from military families. U.S. citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply, especially those from underrepresented minority groups. / Apply by September 30, 2024

 

  • NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Mental Health Counselors (Master’s): Master’s fellowships of $12,000 for students studying for a master’s degree in mental health counseling. Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with one or more of the following: underserved minority communities, child/adolescent and geriatric groups, minority communities in inner cities and rural areas, minority persons (including LGBTQIA2S+), or those who are veterans or are from military families. Eligible applicants must commit to teaching, administering services, conducting research, and/or providing direct mental health counseling to at least one of the above-listed populations. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an accredited counseling master’s program at the time of application. / Apply by September 30, 2024

 

  • NBCC Minority Fellowship Program for Mental Health Counselors (Doctoral): Fellowships of $22,000 for students pursuing a doctorate in counseling. Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations, or those who are veterans or are from military families and commit to providing mental health and/or substance abuse and addictions counseling services to underserved minority populations through direct practice or the training of direct practitioners. U.S. citizens and permanent residents are invited to apply with special consideration given to underrepresented minority group members. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an accredited doctoral-level counseling program at the time of application. / Apply by September 30, 2024

 

  • HBNU Fogarty Global Health Training Program: The Fogarty Global Health Training Program offers opportunities in global health research training for pre and post-doctoral candidates from the U.S. and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs), sponsored by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) and several collaborating Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program supports specific areas of interest in HIV/AIDS, non-communicable diseases, mental health, maternal and child health, and nutrition. The fellowship is 12 months in length and has location assignments throughout Africa and Asia. The fellowship includes a stipend, health insurance, roundtrip travel, and other benefits. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • Fellowships at the Wilson Center: Through an international competition, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars offers 9-month residential fellowships to outstanding scholars, practitioners, journalists, and public intellectuals to take part in its non-partisan dialogue. Fellows conduct research and write in their areas of interest. The Center accepts non-advocacy, policy-relevant, fellowship proposals that address key challenges of past, present, and future issues confronting the United States and the world. Academic applicants must have a doctorate. For other applicants, an equivalent level of professional achievement is expected. Offers a max stipend of $90,000. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • APS/British Academy Fellowship for Research in London: Since 1933, the American Philosophical Society (APS) has awarded small grants to scholars in order to support the cost of research leading to publication in all areas of knowledge. The APS offers an exchange postdoctoral fellowship for a minimum of 1-2 months’ research in the archives and libraries of London. This award includes travel expenses between the United States and the United Kingdom and a monthly subsistence paid by the APS. Applicants are expected to have a doctorate or to have published work of doctoral quality. Funding is offered up to a maximum of $6,000. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • Title VIII Combined Research and Language Training (CRLT) Program: For U.S. graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars seeking to complete overseas, policy-relevant research and increase language proficiency. Lasting three to nine consecutive months, it can include international travel; housing and living stipends; visa support; overseas health insurance; archive access; and logistical support. Administered by American Councils, awards range from $7,000 to $25,000 depending on the duration of the overseas research period. Programs are available in the Balkans, the Baltics, The Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Research takes place between June and August of the following year. / Apply by October 1, 2024

  • Alicia Patterson Fellowships: Alicia Patterson Fellowships are one-year and six-month grants awarded to working journalists to pursue independent projects of significant interest and to write articles based on their investigations for The APF Reporter, a web-published magazine by the Foundation. The fellowships are open only to U.S. citizens who are full-time print journalists, or to non-U.S. citizens who work full-time for U.S. print publications, either in America or abroad. Reporters, writers, photographers, and editors are all eligible to apply. The fellowship stipend is $40,000 for twelve months and $20,000 for six months and must cover your travel and research costs. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • Archbishop Tutu Fellowship: The Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme welcomes an elite group of Africa’s highest potential young leaders, between 30 and 40 years of age, representing a wide range of sectors. Offered on a part-time basis over six months, the Programme includes two 9-day Group Learning Modules with an impressive array of distinguished leaders and faculty. These are intensive interactive workshops; one at the historic Mont Fleur conference facility (South Africa), and the other split between Oxford University and London (UK).  Candidates must be nominated, nominations open in early August. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • TomKat Center Postdoctoral Fellowships in Sustainable Energy: The TomKat Center Postdoctoral Fellowships support outstanding recent PhD graduates working on projects that explore new research directions in sustainable energy and its intersection with food, water, the environment, and human health. TomKat Fellows will have support for up to two years to work on creative, multidisciplinary research. The TomKat Fellowship provides annual support as a salary in the amount of $65,000, or the minimum postdoctoral salary rate as stipulated by Stanford, whichever is greater. Foreign scholars must have or be able to obtain an H1B visa (to receive the award as salary). Citizenship is not a selection factor. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • Welder Wildlife Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program: The Rob and Bessie Welder Wildlife Foundation’s research fellowship program is designed to support exemplary graduate students and innovative wildlife research. Fellowships are awarded directly to properly accredited U.S. colleges or universities for graduate students who have approved candidates for M.S. or Ph.D. degrees after project proposals have been approved by the Foundation. Students working on or near the Refuge are provided dormitory apartment living quarters, utilities, office space, computer access, and such field and laboratory facilities as are available. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • German Historical Institute Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships: The GHI awards short-term fellowships of 1-5 months to European and North American doctoral students as well as postdoctoral scholars to pursue research projects that draw upon primary sources located in the United States. We are particularly interested in research projects that fit into the following fields: German and European history; The history of German-American relations; The role of Germany and the USA in international relations; American history (European doctoral and postdoctoral scholars only). The fellowship is open to both doctoral and postdoctoral scholars based in North America and Europe. The monthly stipend is €2,000 for doctoral students and €3,400 for postdoctoral scholars. / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • Wellcome Trust Early-Career Awards: The scheme of early-career awards provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity. Innovative projects will deliver shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health, and well-being. By the end of the award, fellows will be ready to lead their independent research program. A Wellcome Early-Career Award provides a salary for the grant holder and up to £400,000 for research expenses. The host organization should be based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- or middle-income countries (apart from India and mainland China). / Apply by October 1, 2024

 

  • Rhodes Scholarships: The Rhodes Scholarships, established in 1903, are the oldest international scholarship programme in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, the programme offers over 100 fully-funded Scholarships each year for full-time postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom – one of the world’s leading universities.   • Consular Fellows Program: The Consular Fellows Program offers candidates a unique opportunity to serve their country, utilize their foreign language skills, and develop valuable skills and experience that will serve them well in follow-on professions. Using their language skills in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, or Arabic, their primary duty is to adjudicate visas for foreign nationals. Duties and responsibilities are similar to those of entry-level career Foreign Service Officers. Full benefits are provided and fellows will receive a starting salary of at least $48,135. This fellowship lasts from 12-60 months and can be ended at any time with 30 days notice. / Apply by October 2, 2024

 

  • The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship: The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship is a three-year award that offers outstanding early career researchers the opportunity to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in an academic environment. The primary emphasis is on the completion of a significant piece of publishable research, and the integration of the award holder into the community of established scholars within their field. The applicant must be a researcher from the humanities and social sciences and be based at an eligible university or research organization for the duration of the Fellowship. Anyone of any nationality who has a doctorate from a UK university is eligible. The scheme is covered under the Full Economic Costing (FEC) regime. / Apply by October 2, 2024

 

  • Tennessee Governor’s Management Fellowship: The Tennessee Governor’s Management Fellowship is a prestigious and highly competitive fellowship awarded to exceptional applicants who wish to serve and learn with the State of Tennessee’s top executive leaders. The nonpartisan program offers a competitive salary and is open to recent graduates of undergraduate or graduate programs. The gifted and highly motivated fellows are awarded the unique opportunity to spend two years working full-time for senior and top-ranking government officials.   • National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship Program: The Dissertation Fellowship Program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. These $27,500 fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory, or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world. Applicants need not be citizens of the United States; however, they must be candidates for the doctoral degree at a graduate school within the United States. / Apply by October 3, 2024 

 

  • National Humanities Center Residential Fellowships: The National Humanities Center in North Carolina will offer up to 40 residential fellowships for advanced study in the humanities from September through May. In addition to scholars from all fields of the humanities, the Center accepts individuals from the natural and social sciences, the arts, the professions, and public life who are engaged in humanistic projects. The Center is international in scope and welcomes applications from scholars outside the U.S. Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent scholarly credentials. The Center seeks to provide at least half salary and covers travel expenses for Fellows and dependents. / Apply by October 3, 2024

 

  • NNSA Graduate Fellowship Program: The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory offers year-long assignments to qualified graduate students to work across the National Nuclear Security Administration’s nuclear security mission space in infrastructure, stockpile stewardship, and nonproliferation. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application or have completed a graduate degree within 18 months before the time of application. Preferred areas of study include international relations, accounting, mechanical engineering, physics, etc. Fellows will be placed at a specific site and receive an annual salary of $66,200 with benefits. / Apply by October 4, 2024

 

  • American Antiquarian Society Fellowships: The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) maintains a major research library in American history, literature, and culture through 1876 in Worcester, MA. The AAS-NEH fellows are part of a community that includes the AAS staff, area college and university faculty, and the recipients of AAS short-term fellowships (including scholars from all over the U.S. and abroad, Ph.D. candidates, and creative artists and writers producing work for the general public) and other long-term fellows. Twenty-eight months of AAS-NEH fellowship support are available. / Apply by October 5, 2024
