Duke University offers a fully funded PhD program in Computer Science. In the first 2 years of the degree program students are exposed to a range of topics as they get to know the faculty and the research being conducted. After studying the research methodology and deciding on a concentration, students proceed with independent research and complete their doctoral defense under an advisor. All PhD students are provided tuition and stipend support through fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. Support is contingent upon satisfactory progress and the PhD is typically expected to be finished within 5 years.
