Harvard offers a fully funded PhD Program in Economics. Economics students are expected to have a base understanding of economics and mathematics, but a major or master’s in economics is not required. There are many disciplines students can focus on for their doctoral research including: environmental economics, economic growth and development, monetary and fiscal policy, international economics, law and economics, behavioral economics, labor economics, and economic history. Collaboration between Harvard’s different departments is encouraged and students are provided with tuition and a stipend throughout their course of study.
