The University of Maine, based in Orono, ME offers a fully funded master’s in English. MA candidates can expect to grow in different and sometimes unexpected directions as they explore many different facets of English studies. English MA candidates find themselves preparing technical documentation, editing a short story, and writing an innovative assignment sequence. The greatest number of our funded M.A. students are recipients of graduate teaching assistantships. They receive stipends of approximately $16,000 (Fall 2022) for the nine-month school year as well as tuition remission for each semester and for two summers (6 credits) while enrolled in the program.
