The University of Maryland, based in College Park, MD offers a fully funded PhD in Communication. Most students admitted into the PhD program aspire to academic careers as scholars and teachers, with some pursuing professional careers in government, non-profit organizations, or the private sector. All of the PhD students are funded. For students entering with a bachelor’s degree, assistantships are guaranteed for five consecutive years, as long as the student remains in good standing and is making satisfactory progress toward their degree.
