The PhD program focuses on three subfields: archaeology, biological anthropology, and sociocultural anthropology and prepares students for a position as a college or university-level researcher and/or teacher, or for an advanced non-academic research position. All students admitted to the PhD program are offered a five-year funding package, contingent on satisfactory progress toward the degree. The funding package provides payment of tuition up to 14 credits per semester, partial payment of the health insurance premium, and a stipend.
