d.fellowship Teaching Fellowship
The d.school teaching fellowship is a 12.5-month program aimed at developing excellence in the experiential teaching and learning of design thinking. Fellows are creative professionals excited about the future of design and science, the intersection of k12 education and systems design, or the possibilities of merging design with public policy. Fellows teach courses, work in small groups and have a high degree of autonomy. Candidates must have significant design and design thinking experience outside of school, currently work as a designer or in a creative role and hold a Master’s Degree or higher.
FSCIS Visiting Junior Scholar Fellowship
The France-Stanford Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (FSCIS) Visiting Junior Scholar Fellowship provides funding up to $7,000 for a project of 2-4 months, available to (1) Scholars who have completed a PhD no more than three years from the date of applying for the fellowship and who hold a tenure-track/permanent (rather than post-doctoral) position. These may be Stanford-based scholars seeking a research visit at a French institution or scholars based in a French institution seeking a research visit at Stanford, and (2) Postdoctoral students. These may be Stanford-based postdocs seeking a research visit at a French institution or postdocs based in a French-institution seeking a research visit at Stanford.
John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford
The John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford foster journalistic innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. Each year, we select fellows from around the world and bring them together for 10 months (September to June) at Stanford University, in the heart of Silicon Valley. Through individual and group coaching, as well as special workshops and weekly events, we help our fellows become leaders and change agents to re-imagine journalism’s future. U.S. applicants for a JSK Fellowship ideally have at least seven years of full-time professional experience; international applicants ideally have at least five years. Fellows receive a stipend of $7500 and are eligible for childcare and other family and educational benefits.
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Food Security and the Environment
Stanford University’s Center on Food Security and the Environment addresses critical global issues of hunger, poverty and environmental degradation by generating vital knowledge and policy-relevant solutions. The FSE post-doc will be awarded to promising young scholars with a demonstrated ability to do innovative and rigorous work related to global hunger, poverty alleviation, and environmental degradation. Successful candidates will be expected to lead projects of their own design, while also interacting with other faculty and students at FSE. The position is for one year, at a competitive annual salary and benefits package.
Stanford Africa MBA Fellowship
The Stanford Africa MBA Fellowship Program pays for tuition and associated fees (approximately US $150,000) for citizens of African countries with financial need who wish to obtain an MBA at Stanford GSB. Stanford will award up to eight Stanford Africa MBA Fellowships annually. Within two years of graduation from Stanford GSB, Stanford Africa MBA Fellows are required to return to Africa to work for at least two years in a professional role that contributes to the continent’s development.
Stanford USA MBA Fellowship
The Stanford USA MBA Fellowship provides financial assistance to students who wish to obtain an MBA at Stanford GSB and are committed to economic development in regions of the United States that are underrepresented in the MBA Program. The Fellowship will focus on the Midwest and pay for tuition and associated fees (approximately US $160,000 over two years) for Stanford MBA students who demonstrate financial need and strong ties to the Midwest. Within two years of graduation from Stanford GSB, Stanford USA MBA Fellows are required to return to the Midwest to work for at least two years in a professional role that will contribute to the region’s economic development.
Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship
Each year, the Biodesign Program has two U.S.-based fellowship teams of four graduate and/or postgraduate engineers, business professionals, bioscientists and physicians who collaborate to invent new technologies that address major clinical and surgical needs. All of the fellows complete a 10-month program, stipend supported. In addition to Stanford clinical and engineering faculty, the teams are mentored by over 100 “real world” experts in design, prototyping, regulatory, reimbursement, finance and technology. Applicants with a background in engineering, medicine, biosciences or relevant business/technology are encouraged to apply.
Stanford Neurosciences Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship
These awards provide funding to postdoctoral scientists at Stanford University engaging in highly interdisciplinary research in the neurosciences broadly defined. Selected scholars will be provided funding for two years, to be utilized for payments toward tuition, salary, and health benefits. In addition, our scholars meet quarterly, visit each others’ labs to learn about different areas of study and research techniques, develop skills to communicate with a non-scientific audience, and present “elevator pitches.” Candidates in a variety of disciplines will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
Stanford-ABC News Global Health and Media Fellowship
This opportunity is targeted to provide medical students, residents, fellows and/or faculty with practical training in global health reporting using a variety of media platforms including print, television, social networking and fundamentals in journalism and communications. The Fellow will complete training programs through the Stanford University Graduate Program in Journalism and will work at the World Health Organization’s South East Regional Office (SEARO) in New Delhi, India. The Fellow receives a competitive stipend. The Fellowship starts in June of each year and lasts for 12 months.
TomKat Center Postdoctoral Fellowships in Sustainable Energy
The TomKat Center Postdoctoral Fellowships support outstanding recent PhD graduates working on projects that explore new research directions in sustainable energy and its intersection with food, water, the environment, or human health. TomKat Fellows will have support for up to two years to work on creative, multidisciplinary research. The TomKat Fellowship provides annual support as salary in the amount of $60,000, or the minimum postdoctoral salary rate as stipulated by Stanford, whichever is greater. Foreign scholars must have or be able to obtain an H1B visa (to receive the award as salary). Citizenship is not a selection factor.
Wallace Stegner Fellowship
The Wallace Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University provides 10 two-year professional fellowships annually: 5 fellowships in fiction writing and 5 fellowships in poetry writing. Fellows meet weekly in a 3-hour class with teachers, but do not need to meet any curricular demands except for attending workshops. The Fellowship does not offer a degree. Candidates must demonstrate the quality of their creative work, their willingness to develop their skills, and their capacity to expand their expertise. Fellowships receive a stipend of $26,000 annually, and Stanford University pays educational costs and medical health insurance.
