New 2024-2025 Fulbright U.S. Student Program Awards for Students and Young Professionals

In 2024-2025 Vietnam is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award as part of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program supports cultural exchange through grants to graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals to pursue study and research in more than 140 countries around the world. This year, many new Fulbright Awards have been added for the 2024-2025 cycle.

Types of Awards

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers two main types of grants: Fulbright Study/Research awards and Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) awards as well as special programs with National Geographic and the Fogarty International Center.

The Fulbright Study/Research Awards provide funding to either design a research project that will take place for 9-12 months over one academic year or pursue a postgraduate degree in a country outside the United States.

The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program places fellows in classrooms abroad for up to 1 year to assist local English teachers.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Fulbright U.S. student grant you must be a U.S. citizen, meet the language requirements for the program and country, and have a conferred bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) at the time of application. Review Fulbright’s general eligibility requirements, including what they’re looking for in candidates, and review the requirements for the individual country programs you’re interested in to ensure fit.

Application Deadline

In 2024-25, over 2,150 different Fulbright U.S. Student Program grants will be offered. It’s time to find the right program for you! This year’s application deadline for U.S. Fulbright Awards is Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. 2024-2025 New Fulbright U.S. Student Program Awards

East Asia-Pacific

South Korea is offering 80 English Teaching Assistant Awards to graduating seniors or recent graduates under 30 years of age. ETAs will be placed at elementary schools, secondary schools, vocational/technical schools, and other educational/community institutions as full-time teachers.

Taiwan is offering a number of new programs for graduate study, including:

Vietnam is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award, a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Europe & Eurasia

Austria is offering 1 Fulbright-Diplomatic Academy Student Award, a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for a qualified student to enroll in one of the graduate programs at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, including the Diploma Program, Master of Advanced International Studies (MAIS) program, Master of Science in Environmental Technology and International Relations (ETIA) Program, or  Master of Science in Digital International Affairs (DIA) Program. The length of the program and funding vary by program. Applicants must hold a university degree in any discipline.

France is offering 3 Fulbright-Université Grenoble Alpes Awards. Awards of 8-10 months are offered to pursue a Master’s degree or doctoral research at the Université Grenoble Alpes in any of the disciplines represented at the university.

Greece is offering two Special Study/Research Awards. These include:

  • 2 Fulbright/Graduate Studies At Greek State Universities Awards: 9-month grants for recent university and college graduates eager to pursue a Master’s degree offered in English at a Greek State University during the academic year 2024-2025. The grant will provide up to $1,500 USD in tuition and fees for studies for the first year only (2 semesters).
  • 4 Fulbright/IKY Ph.D. Research Awards: 6-month grants are available to Ph.D. candidates from all disciplines who would like to conduct independent doctoral-level research during the academic year 2024-2025.

Iceland is offering 1 Fulbright Research in Seaweed Processing Award for Master’s and Ph.D. students. Candidates should have a background in biopolymer chemistry. Grant Amount: $2,000 USD, monthly (paid in ISK) for Master’s level students, $2,750 USD for Ph.D. Students.

Ireland is offering two Special Study/Research Awards. These include:

Middle East & North Africa

Egypt is offering 8 Fulbright/Arabic Language Study Grants At CAASIC.  This is a 9-month intensive Arabic language program designed for students from the United States with high levels of Arabic proficiency to attend the American University in Cairo (AUC) to advance their Arabic language fluency.

South and Central Asia

Nepal is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 10-month Special Study/Research Award for students who are currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Sub-Saharan Africa

Ethiopia is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Ghana is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Malawi is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Mozambique is offering the English Teaching Assistant Award. Bachelor’s and Master’s-level candidates who have a degree in English, education, TEFL/applied linguistics, or American Studies, and who have experience teaching or tutoring are preferred.

Uganda is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Western Hemisphere

Jamaica is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.

Peru is offering the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health Fellowship Award. This is a 9-month Special Study/Research Award for students currently enrolled in a doctoral program (MD, Ph.D., DDS, or comparable degree from an accredited institution) and interested in global health.
