Brown University based in Providence, Rhode Island offers a fully funded PhD in Religious Studies. They offer Ph.D. study in four areas: Asian Religious Traditions (ART), Islam, Society and Culture (ISC), Religion and Critical Thought (RCT), and Religions of the Ancient Mediterranean (RAM). In all programs, the goal is to combine specialized, rigorous training with a common and more general disciplinary approach to the study of religion. Teaching assistantships are an essential part of graduate education. All Ph.D. students receive six years of full funding; additional funding is also possible.
