The CCST Science & Technology Policy Fellows program selects and trains a group of fifteen PhD scientists and engineers each year to spend one year working in Sacramento. During this time, they work directly with decision-makers within the California State Legislature and Executive Branch. These scientific minds get a front-row seat to learn about the craft and process of policymaking in the state of California. CCST S&T Policy Fellows work alongside decision-makers to evaluate complex scientific issues and interpret data while taking on the responsibilities of full-time staffers. The base salary for this program is $66,560, and it includes paid time off, as well as health, dental, and vision benefits. Additionally, approved professional development and travel expenditures are reimbursed. CCST also reimburses up to $4,000 in relocation costs for moves over 50 miles.
