In cooperation with the Henry Luce Foundation, ACLS has embarked on a three-year bridging initiative to reassess and reconfigure the Luce/ACLS Program in China Studies. Fellowships will support research, writing, and curriculum development. Proposals must reflect an understanding of China’s contemporary academic and research environment. Working knowledge of the Chinese language is required. An applicant must hold a Ph.D. from an institution in the United States or Canada, OR be a US or Canadian citizen/permanent resident with a Ph.D. from any institution. The stipend for short-term fellowships is $15,000 and a maximum of $40,000 for long-term fellowships. An additional $5,000 allowance will be provided for attendance at the summer retreat.
