The University of Pennsylvania, based in Philadelphia, PA offers a fully funded PhD in Anthropology. The emphasis in the Graduate Program is on training candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The PhD holder has been trained to do independent research at a professional level of competence in at least one of the major subfields of Anthropology (Anthropological Archeology, Biological Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology). All accepted full-time Ph.D. applicants are offered the Benjamin Franklin Fellowship which includes the cost of tuition, fees, and health insurance as well as providing an annual stipend.
