ProFellow Founder and four-time Fellow Dr. Vicki Johnson

We are pleased to announce that we are hosting our Fall 2022 ProFellow University Tour. The tour will be held virtually at up to 10 universities across the United States.

During the tour, ProFellow Founder and four-time Fellow Dr. Vicki Johnson will be giving her signature hour-long fellowship seminar How to Launch Your Social Impact Career Through Professional Fellowships, as well as other special events.

Dr. Johnson’s seminar is designed for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni seeking professional fellowships. Professional fellowships provide merit-based. short-term work placements or funding for special projects in fields such as government and public policy, advocacy, education and teaching, non-profit leadership, international affairs and diplomacy, STEM research, social justice, environmental conservation, creative arts, and other social impact fields.

During the seminar, attendees will learn:

  • what funded, merit-based professional fellowships are, with examples of programs from the audience’s discipline (e.g. NYC Urban Fellows, German Chancellor Fellowship, Teach for America, Cybersecurity Talent Initiative, etc.),
  • how to find a wide range of professional and summer fellowships that will help them achieve their career goals,
  • how to identify the social impact mission of these merit-based awards and key tips for the competitive application process, and
  • how a professional fellowship can help launch their social impact career.

The seminar can be geared to specific disciplines of study and includes Q&A.

There is no cost to participating universities. Our mission is to share information about ProFellow’s free funding database and resources with students seeking unique opportunities for professional development.

Dr. Vicki Johnson is the Founder and CEO of ProFellow, the world’s leading online resource for professional and academic fellowships, which has served more than 5 million global students, and professional scholars with free funding resources since 2011. Vicki is a four-time fellow, top Ph.D. scholar, Fulbright recipient and an award-winning social entrepreneur. Early in her career, she completed several professional fellowships including the New York City Urban Fellows Program (2001-2), the German Chancellor Fellowship (2003-4), the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship (2005) and the Ian Axford Fellowship in Public Policy, administered by Fulbright New Zealand (2011). Vicki worked for 15 years at the intersection of public health and emergency management. Fellowships helped Vicki land her dream job with the Obama Administration at the age of 30. She served as Policy Director of the National Commission on Children and Disasters, an expert body instituted by Congress.
