They take place all around the world – China, Israel, Australia, the United Kingdom, a variety of countries in Latin America and Africa, and across the United States. U.S. PIRG Fellowship
U.S. PIRG’s mission is to advocate for the public interest—to speak out for a healthier, safer world in which we’re freer to pursue our own individual well-being and the common good. This is a two-year, full-time program, expressly designed to prepare future leaders with U.S. PIRG. The program looks for smarts, leadership experience, top-notch written and verbal skills, and an eagerness to learn. U.S. PIRG also values organizing experience, including building campus groups. The target annual compensation for this position is $28,000 in the first year. U.S. PIRG offers a competitive benefits package. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the deadline.
AJC’s Goldman Fellowship Program
AJC’s Goldman Fellowship Program develops future leaders in the areas of international and domestic politics, diplomacy, public relations, and management. This competitive summer fellowship gives undergraduate and graduate students the unique opportunity to work in AJC offices in the U.S. and throughout the world—from New York City to Melbourne, Australia. Fellows will receive a minimum $3,300 stipend (before withholding tax), and all major travel expenses will be covered. The program is open to undergraduates in their junior or senior years and to students in graduate and professional schools from a broad range of academic backgrounds.
Cansbridge Fellowship
The Cansbridge Fellowship seeks to build future leaders through a program that fosters growth through creating new ideas and using a powerful network for change. Leaders and entrepreneurs who think outside the box and who have a past as risk-takers are invited to apply. Fellowship includes international work experience in Asia, a conference in San Francisco and access to the Cansbridge Global Network. Applicants must be undergraduates currently enrolled in a Canadian college or university and pursuing a degree in business, science, design or technology.
CAO Graduate Research Fellowship Program
The Center for Advancing Opportunity (CAO) Research Fellowship Program is driving the discovery of evidence-based solutions to remove barriers to opportunity. The fellowship seeks to expand educational, social and economic opportunities in fragile communities in the U.S. Future leaders passionate about eliminating inequality, researching its causes, and contributing to innovative solutions are invited to apply. The fellowship award is applicable to tuition, fees, a stipend or a combination of the three for up to $40,000 a year. Applicants must be current doctoral students at a U.S. university.
Chevening Scholarships and Fellowships
Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from all over the world to develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree at any UK University. To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country; return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended; and apply to three different eligible UK university courses.
Future Leaders in Action (FLIA) Fellowships
For up to 13 weeks over the spring, summer, or fall, Future Leaders in Action (“FLIA”) places fellows, emerging social sector leaders in youth-oriented nonprofit organizations to develop or implement enrichment programs which cultivate their leadership skills. Fellows work full-time, on-site with a partner on an enrichment program that focuses on one of the following areas: advancing skills for success, promoting public health and protecting the environment. There are fellowships available in New York, Portland and Iowa and past partners have included Boys & Girls Clubs, the Fiver Children’s Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters and other health-related organizations.
Hansen Leadership Institute
This summer fellowship is an opportunity for international and U.S. students to build leadership skills and better cultural understanding to help form a more peaceful future. Fellows receive hands-on training in team-building, public speaking, negotiation, mediation and working together to solve international problems. Leadership training includes meeting with political and business leaders to learn real world skills and how to implement these skills at home after the program. The program is located in San Diego, CA and open to international and U.S. undergraduate and master’s students aged 20-25. Non-U.S. citizens: January deadline; U.S. citizens: March deadline.
Princeton in Africa Fellowships
Princeton in Africa helps future leaders develop lifelong connections to the people and nations of Africa. We offer highly selective yearlong fellowships to recent college graduates with organizations across the African continent; we enable our Fellows, through their work, to make significant contributions to Africa’s well-being; and we encourage our Fellows to cultivate meaningful relationships with communities in Africa and with one another. Fellows are provided with basic living stipends. Graduating seniors and young alumni from any college or university accredited in the U.S. are eligible to apply. Please note that prior Africa experience is NOT a requirement.
Princeton in Asia Fellowships
Princeton in Asia (PiA) is an independent, non-profit organization affiliated with Princeton University. Founded in 1898, the program has long been driven by a mission to foster mutual appreciation and cultural understanding by connecting service-minded graduates and partner organizations in Asia through immersive work experiences. PiA offers year-long, service-oriented fellowships in 22 countries and regions of Asia in the fields of education, public health, economic development, environmental sustainability, and peace, justice, and access to information. PiA fellowships are open to graduates or graduating seniors of any university.
Princeton in Latin America
Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) seeks to connect recent college graduates with one-year, service-oriented positions at NGOs and community-based service organizations in Latin America. For all positions, basic professional competency in Spanish or Portuguese is required. In addition to Spanish, French may be helpful for some placements in the Dominican Republic, for those projects serving the Haitian immigrant population. Application interviews are conducted partly in Spanish or Portuguese, and a language-competency evaluation is part of the application. Applications to PiLA are open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are recent graduates of U.S. and Canadian universities.
Schwarzman Scholars
Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective, one-year master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Whether in politics, business or science, the success of future leaders around the world will depend upon an understanding of China’s role in global trends. Students will live and study together on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly-built, state-of-the-art facility, where all classes will be taught in English. Students can pursue a degree in Public Policy, Economics and Business, or International Studies. Schwarzman Scholars receive tuition and a stipend, room and board, RT travel, and an in-country study tour.
Shapiro Family Fellowship
The Shapiro Family Fellowship is a highly selective, yearlong experience designed to cultivate future leaders of the New York Jewish community through high-level discussion with peers, leaders, and mentors in the U.S. and Israel. The fellowship includes yearlong programming that provides meaningful personal and professional development, and deepened knowledge of Israel, the New York Jewish community, and UJA-Federation of New York, and a 10-day trip to Israel. Candidates for the fellowship must be between 22-28 years-old, live in the greater New York metropolitan area, and must have traveled to Israel at least once prior to application.
Urban Leaders Fellowship
The Urban Leaders Fellowship is a 7 week paid summer fellowship for early- to mid-career professionals who are already leaders in their own right and are looking to accelerate their leadership through fellowship with a focus on policy and practice. Fellows work half-time on high-level policy projects with an elected official and half-time alongside partner organizations in cities across the country. We work in 9 cities: Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, KCMO, Nashville, New Orleans, Oakland, and Washington, D.C. Fellows receive a base stipend of $2,500. Three deadlines.
