As a part of our series on How to Fully Fund Your Master’s Degree, here is a list of universities that offer fully funded master’s programs in Gender Studies, Women’s Studies, and Sexuality Studies. A master’s in gender studies can lead to a variety of socially impactful careers and put you at the forefront of promoting social justice and advocating for gender equality.

Fully funded Master’s programs in Gender Studies can be difficult to find because most universities focus their funding on Ph.D. students. However, there are a number of universities that offer funded master’s programs in Gender Studies. When a program offers “full funding,” it typically comes in the form of a financial aid package for full-time on-campus students that includes full tuition remission and an annual stipend or salary for the duration of the student’s studies, which for Master of Arts (M.A.) programs is typically two years. Funding is usually offered in exchange for graduate teaching and/or research work in the form of a graduate or research assistantship that is complementary to your studies.

Not all universities offer full funding to master’s students, which is why we recommend researching the financial aid offerings of all the potential M.A. programs in Gender Studies, including small and lesser-known schools both in the U.S. and abroad. You can also find several external fellowships in the ProFellow Database for graduate and doctoral study and dissertation research, fieldwork, language study, and summer work experience.
