1. AI Futures Fellowship
The AI Futures Fellowship is an eight-week fellowship program that takes place at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City. It is fully funded with a grant of $8,000 for early-career individuals and students. A highly selective group of around 10 fellows will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with mentors who are seasoned professionals in the field of AI research. The main focus of the AI Futures Fellowship is to enhance AI safety and governance by addressing the challenges of managing advanced AI globally.
2. Alexander von Humboldt Professorship
The Humboldt Professorship is a prestigious award that enables the recipient to conduct innovative, long-term research at universities and research institutions in Germany, contributing to Germany’s global competitiveness in research. The Foundation is committed to promoting gender diversity and encourages more women academics to apply for the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. The fellowship has a special focus on Artificial Intelligence. Exceptionally qualified world leaders in their fields who are established academics abroad and are eligible for a professorship in Germany can be nominated by German universities. The award provides a total amount of €5 million for five years.
3. Borealis AI Fellowships
The Borealis AI Fellowships program aims to assist outstanding domestic and international students in achieving their educational goals as they pursue graduate degrees in Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) at a Canadian university. The program provides support for PhD students, enabling them to pursue world-class research. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate exceptional research skills and present a well-crafted research proposal relevant to their graduate degree. Each fellowship carries a monetary award of $10,000.
4. Center for Security and Emerging Technology Research Fellow
The Research Fellow at the Center for Security and Emerging Technology will be responsible for developing, proposing, and leading research projects. They will also be monitoring trends and advancements in AI, computing, and national security policy while providing research support and more. The ideal candidate should possess a graduate degree (Master’s, JD, PhD) in a relevant field and hold at least 3 years of progressive experience in research and policy analysis. They should also have familiarity with interpreting and visualizing data. Preferred candidates should be proficient in a foreign language, statistics, and data analysis. Additionally, they should possess research experience in national security and technology policy.
5. CISA Cyber Innovation Fellows Initiative
The CISA Cyber Innovation Fellows program provides an opportunity for senior technical experts from the private sector to embed themselves in CISA’s cybersecurity teams. This initiative is designed to benefit both the participants’ professional development and CISA’s growing mission space. The program allows Fellows to help innovate CISA’s approach to cybersecurity while gaining a deeper understanding of the agency’s mission, which will enhance their skills and knowledge. If selected, Fellows will be assigned a position based on their background and qualifications. They will serve on a part-time basis of one to two days per week for a maximum of four months. The Fellows’ private sector employer will be solely responsible for their compensation.
6. CISAC Fellowship Programs
The Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) offers a wide range of fellowships to scholars who wish to dedicate an academic year to research an international security issue. CISAC welcomes predoctoral, postdoctoral, and junior faculty fellows to focus on a variety of security topics, including nuclear weapons policies and nonproliferation, nuclear energy, digital security (cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems), biosecurity and global health, insurgency, terrorism, and civil conflict, national security strategies, and global governance. The fellowship is open to applicants from the United States and other countries. There are many fellowship opportunities available based on research areas, and applicants will be considered for all fellowships for which they are eligible.
7. Emerging Technology Fellowship
The Emerging Technology Fellowship (ETF) aims to recruit the most talented and skilled technologists who have expertise in emerging data technology trends. The primary objective is to drive data innovation at the U.S. Census Bureau and other federal agencies. If you are a purpose-driven technologist and innovator, this unique fellowship experience is for you. As a fellow, you will have the opportunity to pitch new projects for funding, network with practitioners across the government who are working in data science and AI, and get more involved in the civic tech space. The Emerging Technology Fellowship is a paid opportunity that lasts for up to four years. The first round of hires will join at a GS-15 level, and they will be eligible for all federal benefits during their tenure.
8. Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship is a program initiated by Schmidt Futures that seeks to expedite the next scientific revolution by applying AI to research in STEM fields. The program will support around 160 postdoctoral Fellows annually across nine universities worldwide. These Fellows will learn how to use AI techniques to enhance their research. Each university will select a new cohort of up to 20 Fellows yearly for a maximum of six years. The program will provide advanced AI training, funded research support, and professional development opportunities to the participants. Its objective is to enable groundbreaking discoveries in diverse scientific fields.
9. ETH AI Center Doctoral Fellowships
The ETH AI Center provides a distinctive fellowship program for doctoral students, aimed at promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and a positive impact on society. Doctoral fellows from different disciplines will be situated together at the ETH AI Center and encouraged to work with faculty and staff from diverse fields. The ETH AI Center also offers an optional entrepreneurial or industry track to support their career path. Individuals with a solid academic background and a Master’s degree in computer science, physics, engineering, applied mathematics, or other relevant fields are eligible to apply. Candidates can choose from research areas such as AI theory, methods, foundations, and systems.
10. ETH AI Center Postdoctoral Fellowships
This fellowship program is designed to provide highly motivated postdoctoral candidates with an excellent track record with the opportunity to conduct impactful research that will shape the future of AI. The program is for two years with a flexible starting date, and the salary is in accordance with the standard salary scale for postdoctoral fellows at ETH Zurich. To be eligible for the program, candidates must hold a PhD in computer science, machine learning, statistics, physics, engineering, applied mathematics, or other relevant AI fields, or should be less than 10 months away from completing their PhD thesis.
11. Fellowship in Clinical Artificial Intelligence
The Fellowship in Clinical AI is an exclusive year-long program that runs part-time alongside clinical training for doctors and dentists who are approaching consultancy. This program is designed to train a new generation of leaders in the NHS to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence to transform healthcare. Applicants must hold a National Training Number in a medical or dental specialty training post leading to CCT. There are no restrictions on the specialty for this fellowship. The Fellowship posts are fully funded and supported by the regional bodies of Health Education England.
12. Fellowship.AI Hands-on Fellowship Program
The Fellowship.AI Hands-on Fellowship Program is a fully remote, full-time fellowship program that lasts for three months. It is designed for aspiring machine learning engineers and is completely free of charge. The program is open to citizens of any country that is not embargoed by the United States, except for Australia. Applicants must have a foundational understanding of machine learning theory and methods, basic coding proficiency (especially in Python), and creative problem-solving skills. Although it is fully remote, fellows living in major metropolitan areas are encouraged to organize in-person meetups. The program strongly encourages applications from people belonging to underrepresented communities.
13. Information Society Law Center Fellowship Position
The Information Society Law Center (ISLC) is a multidisciplinary research center that focuses on the study of Digital Transformation Law. The center covers various aspects of the Information Society, including legal, technological, political, and social aspects. It brings together scholars from diverse disciplines, such as legal informatics, philosophy of law, sociology of law, ecclesiastical law, criminal law, criminal procedure, philosophy of politics, general theory of law, bioethics, data science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and smart contracts. The center is currently seeking candidates with significant professional and academic experience in Information Technology Law. Applications are open to both Milan residents and non-residents.
14. Meta Artificial Intelligence Residency Program
The Artificial Intelligence Residency Program is a one-year research training position at Meta that provides practical experience in artificial intelligence research. The program aims to help aspiring PhD candidates, research paper publishers, and graduates in the designated field maximize their experience and knowledge before applying or attending a graduate program. The program provides guidance and mentorship from AI Researchers throughout the process. The program is open to anyone passionate about AI, regardless of their background, and to individuals with a technical background planning to apply to a graduate program. This is a full-time program.
15. Pulitzer Center AI Accountability Fellowships
The Pulitzer Center Al Accountability Fellowships are designed to support journalists working on in-depth AI accountability stories. These stories specifically examine the ways governments and corporations use predictive and surveillance technologies to guide decisions in policing, medicine, social welfare, the criminal justice system, hiring, and more. Journalists must apply with a reporting project that they wish to pursue during their fellowship. We encourage enterprise and accountability projects that use various approaches, including data analysis, records requests, and shoe-leather reporting, to investigate the real-world impact of algorithms on policy, individuals, and communities. The 10-month fellowship will provide journalists with up to $20,000 to support their reporting project.
16. Stanford University Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) Fellowships
The establishment of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) aims to encourage innovative AI research that spans across various disciplines and fields. The Institute strives to appoint and support promising researchers through its fellowship programs, who are working at intersections that are often overlooked by traditional academic departments. The institute offers three types of fellowships: 1) HAI Postdoctoral Fellowship Program; 2) HAI Graduate Fellowship Program; and 3) Stanford Digital Economy Lab (DEL) Postdoctoral Fellowships, to outstanding researchers pursuing core disciplinary topics.
