Types of Awards

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers two main types of grants: Fulbright Study/Research awards and Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) awards and special programs with National Geographic and the Fogarty International Center.

The Fulbright Study/Research Awards provide funding to design a research project that will take place for 9-12 during the academic year. Additionally, students have the option to pursue a postgraduate degree in a country outside the United States.

In the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program, fellows work in a classroom with a teacher to assist in English instruction. They also have many opportunities to participate in local community events and projects.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Fulbright U.S. student grant, you must be a U.S. citizen, meet the language requirements for the program and country, and have a conferred bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) at the time of application. As each country and program may have varying requirements, it’s essential you review Fulbright’s general eligibility requirements to ensure you’ll be a competitive candidate and a good fit.
