As a part of our series on How to Fully Fund Your Master’s Degree, here is a list of universities that offer Master’s programs in Accounting that offer full funding to all or most of their incoming students. A fully funded Master’s degree in Accounting can prepare you for a career in business, academia, corporate accounting, legal work, and financial regulation.
Fully-funded M.A. programs can be difficult to find. Because most universities focus their funding on Ph.D. students, M.A. candidates can have a harder time securing scholarships and funding. However, there are a number of universities that do offer funded M.A. programs. “Full funding” is a financial aid package for full-time students that includes full tuition remission and an annual stipend or salary for the duration of the student’s master’s studies. Funding is typically offered in exchange for graduate teaching and research work that is complementary to your studies. Not all universities provide full funding to their master’s students, which is why I recommend researching the financial aid offerings of all the potential M.A. programs in your academic field, including small and lesser-known schools both in the U.S. and abroad.

University of Arizona, Master’s in Accounting
(Tucson, AZ): Teaching assistantships are offered on a semester-by-semester basis to master’s students who are most qualified. TAs get tuition reductions and receive a stipend of approximately $3,000 per semester. The School of Accountancy offers small scholarships for on-campus graduate students on a limited basis and third-party scholarships and opportunities are also available.
Bentley University, Master’s in Accounting
(Waltham, MA): Bentley University offers merit-based scholarships to a select number of qualified applicants. As a form of merit aid, Bentley offers a limited number of Graduate Assistantships for full-time students entering the fall term. The Master’s in Accounting Fellowship program provides recipients with a full scholarship. This program aims to provide those groups who are underrepresented in the profession with financial, and academic in this field.
University of Iowa, Master of Accountancy
(Iowa City, IA): Historically, over 90% of MAc students at Tippie receive a financial award in some form. Common forms of financial aid are teaching assistantships and scholarships and other programs through the Office of Student Financial Aid. TAs receive a $10k scholarship plus a tuition discount. Depending on your responsibility level, you’ll also receive an annual salary between $10,000 to $20,000.
North Carolina State University, Master of Accounting
(Raleigh, NC): All students are considered for merit-based scholarship awards who submit an application before the deadline. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $19,000. Fellowships are awarded based on merit by the Department of Accounting and sponsoring CPA firms and companies that pay full tuition. Over 50% of the MAC class typically receives a graduate assistantship position.
Ohio State University, Master of Accounting
(Columbus, Ohio): The MAcc Admissions Committee awards merit-based MAcc scholarships to successful applicants on a competitive basis. Scholarships may range from $3,000 up to $15,000. All admitted applicants are automatically considered for GA appointments that provide a 50% tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Fisher College of Business nominates its strongest MAcc degree candidates for fellowship programs that provide a full tuition waiver and general fees plus a monthly stipend.
University of South Carolina, Master of Accountancy
(Columbia, SC): All students admitted to the MACC program are automatically considered for other financial awards. Traditionally award 16 to 24 graduate assistant positions per semester. Graduate assistants receive a per-semester stipend of $2,000 and an award to reduce non-resident program fee rates. There are some merit-based fellowship awards.
