#1 Echoing Green Fellowship
This is a full-time, 1.5-year Fellowship for people working on a plan to make the world better in a big way through their own organizations. Social innovators, visionary leaders, and change-makers who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color who are committed to upending structural oppression and creating change in their communities so that all people can thrive are strongly encouraged to apply. Fellows can be based anywhere in the world and must be the primary decision-maker and able to commit full-time to your organization. Organizations can be structured as nonprofit, for-profit, or hybrid. A stipend over 18 months ($80,000 USD) is provided.
#2 Don Lavoie Fellowship
The Don Lavoie Fellowship is an online fellowship program for advanced undergraduates, recent graduates considering graduate school, and early-stage graduate students interested in studying key ideas in the political economy and learning how to utilize these ideas in academic and policy research. Fellows attend a series of online activities, including an online discussion portal and online reading discussion sessions. Fellows are awarded a stipend.
#3 Morgridge Acceleration Program Fellowship
The Morgridge Acceleration Program (MAP) Fellowship matches nonprofit executives, called MAP Mentors, with emerging leaders, called MAP Fellows, looking to create a positive impact while developing professional skill sets and networks. MAP Mentors commit to sharing their expertise, industry knowledge, and professional network with their MAP Fellow during the program. Fellows remain in their current, full-time jobs while dedicating approximately 10 hours a month, or 60 hours through the duration of the program, toward solving a challenge posed by their mentor. All expenses and experiences associated with the MAP Fellowship are fully funded.
#4 Fulbright U.S. Student Program for Study/Research
A U.S. Student Fulbright Grant allows for individually designed study/research projects that will take place during one academic year (9-12 months) in a country outside the U.S. Applicants design their own projects and will typically work with advisers at foreign universities or other institutes of higher education. The study/research awards are available in approximately 140 countries. For recent BA/BS graduates, graduate and doctoral students, and young professionals including artists, musicians, writers, journalists, and those in law, business, and other professional fields. Undergraduate and graduate students must apply through their institution; professionals and former students can apply through their alma mater or At Large.
#5 Mira Fellowship
Each year the Mira Fellowship accepts a small cohort from across the globe to create compassionate actionable visions for our future. Mid-career professionals are given the opportunity to rethink the world’s most pressing issues and develop actionable plans for change. Fellows receive four onsite summits, coaching, cohort collaboration, a research travel stipend of $5,000, and access to experts in the fellow’s field of study.
#6 Emerging Writer Fellowships
The Emerging Writer Fellowships are designed to provide 12 months of uninterrupted time and studio space to write and mentorship with feedback from a nationally established author in their respective genre. Fellows may attend one community creative writing workshop per semester and may attend one Miami Writers Institute workshop in the genre of their manuscript-in-progress. Applicant must not have published in any genre a book-length work, have a book under contract, or be negotiating a contract either in the United States or abroad by the time the fellowship begins. Each fellow receives a stipend of $41,000.
#7 Fulbright Specialist Program
The Fulbright Specialist Program is a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in two- to six-week, project-based exchanges at host institutions in over 150 countries. Specialists, who represent a wide range of professional and academic disciplines, are competitively selected to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster based on their knowledge, skill sets, and ability to make a significant contribution to projects overseas. Specialists receive full funding to participate in Fulbright Specialist projects, including travel, stipend, and lodging. Applications are accepted throughout the year. #8 AAUW Career Development Grants
Career Development Grants provide funding to women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or reenter the workforce. Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields. Grants of $2K – $12K provide support for course work beyond a bachelor’s degree, including a master’s degree, second bachelor’s degree, certification program, or specialized training in technical or professional fields at an accredited U.S. university. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
#9 Hudson Institute Political Studies Summer Fellowship
Hudson Institute Political Studies offers top undergraduates and recent graduates a six-week summer program in political theory and practice based in Washington, DC. The program will broaden and deepen their understanding of public policy and American political principles. Students participate free of charge, are given complimentary accommodations, and receive a $3,000 stipend to offset travel and other ancillary expenses. This program includes four components: rigorous seminars, a series of policy workshops, a distinguished speaker series, and a series of events that include travel to places of national and historical interest.
#10 IRTS Foundation Summer Fellowship
The IRTS Foundation Summer Fellowship Program is a highly selective program that teaches a talented group of up-and-coming communicators the realities of the business world through an all-expense-paid internship in New York City, which includes practical experience and career-planning advice. After a one-week orientation to cable, broadcasting, advertising, and digital media, Fellows gain full-time “real world” experience at New York-based media corporations to which each is assigned for the duration of the Fellowship. Students must be college juniors, seniors, or graduate students. Accomplished students from all majors (including math, computer science, business, marketing, communications, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
